In order to hang in the SEC, there has to be top-notch defensive backfield play and Ole Miss got every bit of that from Daijahn Anthony in his lone season in Oxford after two seasons at Liberty.
It seemed like every big play or big hit on the defensive side of the ball involved Anthony in some way, including this one that no one in Oxford will forget for a long, long time:
Anthony finished his one season in Oxford starting ten games and finishing fourth on the team with 61 tackles. He was tied for the team lead with three interceptions and eight pass breakups. A bonafide playmaker on the defensive side of the ball should have a chance to stick at the next level.
The 6’0” senior participated in the 2024 NFL Draft Combine and graded out as average. He ran a 4.55 40-yard dash and 1.51 10 yard split. He also had a 37 inch vertical as well as 9’8” broad jump. Anthony is projected to go on Day 3 and will likely get his start on special teams and as a back up.
He is listed as the 19th best safety in the draft according to the NFL Combine website. Chad Reuter at NFL.com did a 7 round mock draft and had Anthony going undrafted. The guys over at pff.com had Anthony going 197 to the Atlanta Falcons which sums up his range pretty well. He could go late or not at all, but not a Day 1 or 2 guy.
