Stadium Update | Oxford United Needs You

Oxford United still needs your support to back our exciting new stadium proposal.

The club is encouraging fans to continue to get behind our ambitious plans to create a new state-of-the-art home.

You have less than a week to make your voices heard formally on the Cherwell District Council planning portal.

Cherwell District Council is due to consider our full planning application for our proposed new home on an area of land known as The Triangle, near Kidlington, this summer.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to provide a new home for sport, entertainment, business, community, education and tourism and ensure the club’s future.

With the lease at the Kassam Stadium coming to an end in 2026 the proposed new 16,000 eco-friendly stadium is vital to the long-term vitality of your club.

Supporters have been asking how to help at this stage in the planning process.

You can do this in two ways:

  1. Send an email of support to key councillors.
  2. Leave a formal comment of support on Cherwell District Council’s planning portal

The deadline to make formal comments in support of the scheme is 21st April, so this is one of the last opportunities to actively support it.

Your voice counts and will make a difference.

Please follow our simple guide here which will help you identify your local councillor, their contact details and key points to emphasise in your letter of support.

Jon Clarke, Development Director at Oxford United, said: “We are committed to delivering a landmark stadium the county can be proud of that will benefit the entire community and safeguard the club.

“Supporters have been first-class in backing the proposal and we’re now encouraging fans to make their voices heard again. Many signed a petition, voted in a parish council poll or commented on planning exhibitions.

“But there is now one more opportunity to actively support the scheme and help protect the club by writing letters of support and commenting on the planning portal. This additional support helps add weight to our case and collectively can make a difference.”
