Striker Cooper joins from Oxford

We are pleased to announce the signing of 18-year-old striker Cammy Cooper, who joins the club from English Championship side Oxford United.

The former Partick Thistle and Rangers youth moved from Ibrox to the Kassam Stadium last summer, and now returns north of the border to continue his development with the Diamonds.

He told airdriefc.com: “Since I knew I had the chance to come here I’ve been really looking forward to it, so I can’t wait to get going.

“I still had a year left on my contract at Oxford, but I thought I needed to get some first-team football under my belt.

“Airdrie play some good football and play a lot of young players, so I thought that’s the club for me!”

Manager Rhys McCabe added: “Cammy’s a young lad who has a lot to offer in the wide roles and through the middle.

“He’s got a real hunger and desire to get some first-team experience, and he’ll learn a lot from the likes of Toddy and Reidy. It’s a longer-term project with Cammy, and we’re pleased to get him on board.”

Welcome to the Diamonds, Cammy!
