The 22-year-old left back signed for the U’s from AFC Wimbledon at the beginning of July, but has failed to make a first team appearance so far this season.

United have two left backs ahead of Currie in the queue as things stand, with Joe Bennett the first choice, and Greg Leigh as his back-up.

Guaranteed game time between now and January was therefore going to be unlikely for Currie, especially with the U’s exiting the Carabao Cup.

Currie now links up with an Orient side sitting second from bottom in Sky Bet League One, with three defeats from their opening three games.

He told the Orient club website: “I’m really happy to join Leyton Orient. It’s an opportunity for me to play games and show everyone what I’m about, whilst getting the club to where they want to get to.

“I’ve played against the club a couple of times and I know that the style of play is really attractive. The gaffer told me that I will be able to show what I’m all about in a style of play which will suit me.

“The club utilise the full backs well, and I’m excited to show the fans my energy and hard work for the club.

“Idris [El Mizouni] told me how much he loved the club, and that’s why he was there for two seasons. He knows the gaffer and the lads are top level, and he said what Orient are building is an exciting thing to be a part of.”
