Alain St.Ange addressed conference at Oxford University

Alain St.Ange, Seychellois tourism consultant and former minister, spoke at Oxford University, emphasizing Gandhi’s peaceful national pride approach amid global conflicts, advocating for sustainable tourism development for peace and employment.

Oxford University was host of a conference to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The event held at the prestigious Ashmolean Museum of Oxford University was attended by dignitaries coming from the world over including the Lord Mayor of Oxford. Alain St.Ange, the Seychellois Tourism Consultant was one of the invited personalities who took to the podium to address those gathered in the over flowing conference room.

Alain St.Ange, who is one of the recipients of the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Award’ since a few years ago said when he addressed the event that the approach taken by Mahatma Gandhi of national pride through peace is a respected style that needs to be embraced especially in the troubled world we are living in with conflicts that is impacting the lives of millions directly and indirectly as he touched on the Ukraine – Russia War and the Israel – Gaza & Lebanon War.

The tourism consultant who works alongside many a Tourism Board and Ministry of Tourism on the African Continent and in the ASEAN Block of Countries is a former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine of the Seychelles who is today a sought after speaker on tourism and tourism marketing, aviation and the new trend simply referred to as sustainable tourism development. He was also his country’s candidate for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO in 2017 and one of the three Candidates vying for the post of President of Seychelles in the island’s 2020 Presidentail Elections.

In his address at Oxford University yesterday St.Ange spoke about the Seychelles position as “friend of all and enemy of none” since its Independence from Great Britain in 1976, a stand that has kept Seychelles out of conflicts and having an open door for Seychellois travelling in the four corners of the world.

Yesterday the Seychellois tourism consultant was again be on the speaker’s list at Oxford University at an event entitled the “Mental Health Global Summit” that focused mostly on Mental Health and that aimed at creating a platform for all those involved to collaborate toward a solution to the global proportions of Mental Health.

“The event today at Oxford University is touching on stability and confidence for each and everyone through peace, the ability for progress and ambition for prosperity” said St.Ange earlier today to the press.

The tourism expert will show in his address that tourism as an industry is the best way forward for embracing peace and for providing employment for so many and in so doing ensuring a better state of mind for everyone.
