A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the body of a man was found in the River Thames.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) said the discovery was made near Heyford Hill Lane, Littlemore, on 28 September shortly before 16:50 BST.
The force said officers were trying to establish the deceased man’s movements before he got in the water, which they believe was near St. Clements around 19 September.
A man and a woman who spoke to two men on bikes near Angel and Greyhound Meadows are being urged to contact officers.
The arrested man, aged 36 and from Oxford, was also held on suspicion of robbery.
Police said he had since been released on bail.
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Det Insp Krista Thompson, based at Oxford Police Station, said: “We are trying to establish his last movements prior to entering the water.
“While these incidents will no doubt cause concern to people in and around Oxford, I’d like to reassure people that we are conducting a full and thorough investigation.”
Details of the incident were only released by TVP on Tuesday.
