The head coach of Bristol City Football Club, and previously Oxford United manager, Liam Manning is to take a leave of absence from his role, following the death of his recently born son Theo.
A spokesperson for the club says in a statement that everyone is “deeply saddened” by the news.
“We know that Bristol City’s supporters and the wider football family will share their condolences and deepest sympathy with Liam, his wife Fran and their son Isaac during this difficult period,” a statement from the club reads.
While at Liam’s former club, bosses have shared the following message on social media:
Chris Hogg will take Manning’s place on an interim basis while he is away from his football duties.
Manning most recently appeared on the touchline for Bristol City’s 1-1 draw at home to rivals Cardiff.
The Robins currently sit 16th in the Championship, four points above the relegation zone and five short of the play off places, having drawn their last three games.
Other clubs to have sent their condolences include Bristol Rovers, Fulham, Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle.
City next take to the pitch away to Middlesbrough this Saturday 19th October.
“We ask that the privacy of Liam and his family is respected during this time,” the club statement ends.
