Mark Harris makes first Wales start in home victory

The Oxford United striker picked up his seventh cap for his country, and played up front in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Harris came close to grabbing a goal on two occasions in the opening stages, but both times narrowly missed out on connecting with crosses.

The first saw Harris inches away from an aerial ball into the box, and then he was just behind a cross slid across the penalty box.

As U’s fans have become accustomed to, Harris worked hard up front, leading the Wales press and closing down defenders, and played 89 minutes before being replaced by Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore.

Wales beat Montenegro 1-0, as Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot nine minutes before half-time.

Harris was an unused substitute on Friday night as Wales drew 2-2 in Iceland, having led 2-0 at half-time.

The 25-year-old was recalled to the Wales squad by new head coach Bellamy for Nations League matches last month, and played the final 10 minutes as Wales won 2-1 in Montenegro.

He was an unused substitute when Wales drew 0-0 with Turkey in Bellamy’s first game in charge.
