Derby County predicted lineup, latest team and injury news as David Ozoh ruled out vs Oxford United

Paul Warne will be poised to make several changes ahead of the trip to Oxford United.

Derby County will be hoping to build on their 1-1 draw at the weekend against Millwall as they look to face an away visit to Oxford United in the midweek.

Paul Warne will be hoping that Jerry Yates can follow suit with his first league goal for the Rams at the weekend, especially after prior calls to potentially drop the former Blackpool and Swansea City striker.

Aside from the personal accolade of Yates bagging his first strike for Warne’s side in the 2024/25 Championship campaign, the Derby County boss will be pleased that they were able to break their poor away record that saw them yet to pick up a single point on the road before their trip to The Den, which ended in a stalemate.

It will be a difficult tie for Derby County coming up against a fellow promoted side, and the current injury list will certainly play into that.

Derby County injury news ahead of Oxford United clash

The main injury update ahead of the upcoming Championship clash involves midfielder David Ozoh, who looked to be nearing a return from a hamstring injury. However, the Crystal Palace loanee now looks ‘unlikely to be involved’, per Dominic Dietrich on X.

Warne was boosted by the return of Jake Rooney earlier this week as he played alongside Tom Barkhuizen and Liam Thompson for the under-21s, however it is unlikely that they will be in contention to play for the first team.

Tawanda Chirewa remains out for Derby County, whilst Ryan Nyambe unfortunately has been ruled out due to a knee injury and will be out ‘for the next week or two’.

How Derby County could line up against Oxford United

Warne’s side will likely have Jacob Widell Zetterstrom as the first name on the teamsheet, however the defence looks set to be revamped.

As a result of the injured Nyambe and the now fully fit Callum Elder, it looks set that the ‘terrific’ Australian will come in for Craig Forsyth, while Kane Wilson will replace Nymabe at right-back.

Following a brilliant run of performances, Curtis Nelson remains undroppable, and he could likely partner Nat Phillips at the back, who may replace Eiran Cashin as a result of the congested fixture list, despite the centre-back also being in top form.

As for the centre-of-the-park, Ozoh’s likelihood to not be involved means that Ebou Adams and Kenzo Goudmijn will almost certainly retain their spots in the midfield, however Ben Osborn may potentially come in for Marcus Harness.

As for the frontline, Corey Blackett-Taylor should be handed another start after providing more of an attacking threat than Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, and he will be alongside Yates and Kayden Jackson to complete the side.

Here is how they could line up against Oxford: Jacob Widell Zetterstrom (GK), Kane Wilson, Callum Elder, Curtis Nelson, Nat Phillips, Ebou Adams, Kenzo Goudmijn, Ben Osborn, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Marcus Harness, Kayden Jackson, Jerry Yates
