One Sunderland star has been heavily praised by his Black Cats teammates after the Oxford United win.
The Black Cats managed to get a third win within a week against Oxford United at the Stadium of Light after previously seeing off Hull City and Luton Town away from home.
It was more-than an assured performance at home by Regis Le Bris’ side, who were put out of sight of their opposition after brilliant goals courtesy of Jobe Bellingham and Wilson Isidor, with the latter scoring a lovely dink over the Oxford United shot-stopper to give the Black Cats a comfortable two-goal advantage.
Sunderland attacker Isidor was impeccable against Oxford, as was Patrick Roberts, who caused havoc down the right flank, as he has done on countless occasions so far in the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
Roberts’ brilliant showing was mirrored on the other side by Black Cats man Romaine Mundle, who has been a stunning and consistent performer this season, and he has been rated by fellow players following a brilliant showing at the Stadium of Light.
Romaine Mundle praised after solid Sunderland performance vs Oxford United
Mundle didn’t manage to follow up his goalscoring performance away at Luton Town with another strike to add to his growing tally, however he still made a significant difference on the attacking front, and that has without a doubt been realised by his fellow teammates.
After taking to Instagram, Isidor left a comment under the post, which read ‘Baller 🫡’, whilst Aaron Connolly and Chris Rigg were certainly a fan of his showing against Oxford as they left comments that were ‘❄️❄️’ and ‘🔥’ respectively.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Mikey Moore, who has been recently compared to Neymar after a brilliant showing in midweek, also left a comment on the post, which simply read: “Player.”
Romaine Mundle stats show how crucial he was vs Sunderland
There is no doubt that every Sunderland player covered themselves in glory in the win against Oxford United, and the fact that Mundle’s name hasn’t been uttered much following the victory just shows the incredibly high levels set by his teammates.
Per SofaScore, Mundle didn’t manage to get a shot off in the 78 minutes that he was on the pitch, however he still looked on the dangerous side when it came to playmaking. The Sunderland winger managed 48 touches on the ball on the left-flank, whilst recording a 76% passing accuracy.
The Black Cats winger may have been overshadowed by his fellow teammates, but the fact that he can still make a difference when not on his A game shows just how incredible he has become up until this early stage of the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
