After bonfire night, Christmas is starting to appear on the shelves, and its only a matter of time before markets and light festivals begin. 

What was it like in Oxfordshire at this time of year back in the 1970s? 

We’ve had a look back through the Oxford Mail archive and come up with a snapshot of life in November in the 70s. 

From rowing regattas and racing boats to pub openings and employee strikes, it was all happening. A special mention has to go to Roy Young, who performed in North Hinksey in November 1970.
