With no fixture, the results for those sides around the U’s in the table all went against Des Buckingham’s side, with wins for Coventry, Portsmouth and QPR. There was also draws for Preston and Luton, respectively.
The R’s victory was impressive as they picked up their first home win of the season in style, winning 3-0 against Norwich. However, it also means they are unbeaten in their last four games, drawing twice and winning the other two.
Oxford have no new injury concerns and could welcome back Siriki Dembele and Kyle Edwards, with the duo back in training.
QPR are without Ilias Chair, Jack Clarke-Salter, Michael Frey and Karamoko Dembele, who is the younger brother of Oxford’s Siriki.
These sides last met in the Carabao Cup back in 2021 with former U’s defender Rob Dickie netting for the R’s in a 2-0 victory. Oxford are also without a win in their last three visits to Loftus Road. However, the most famous meeting between the two sides came in 1986 when Oxford won 3-0 in the Milk Cup final at Wembley.
Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Peter Kioso, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Tyler Goodrham, Przemyslaw Placheta, Matt Phillips, Dane Scarlett.
