As Fall Sports Practices Begin, A Look At Oxford’s Team Title History

OXFORD, CT — With the exception of football, which began practices last week, today is the first day for workouts for fall sports programs at Oxford High School. With the coming of the new season comes the hope for success, with the ultimate goal being winning a state championship.

Jut one Wolverine team has captured a state title during the fall season. In 2011, the girls cross country team won the Class SS crown, compiling 53 points to 64 for runner-up Griswold. Oxford employed the “pack running” strategy, with four competitors placing in the top 10 – Caylee Richardson, Marcea Stilson, Skyler Werner and Stephanie Vitka.
