The Oxford United midfielder received treatment for a knee problem following a 50/50 challenge in the 1-0 win at home to Stoke City, but after seemingly looking like he was going to continue, he hobbled away from the touchline and was replaced by Ruben Rodrigues.
Brannagan missed this afternoon’s defeat at Bristol City, and after the game, U’s head coach Des Buckingham provided an update on the midfielder’s situation.
Buckingham said: “Cam will be out for the next six weeks. He’s damaged his knee, but it’s not as severe as first thought, which is good news because if it was really bad, it could’ve seen him out for months.
“We’ll miss him for the next six weeks at least, but you’ve seen today we’ve got Idris El Mizouni, Louie Sibley, who hasn’t played, and Tyler Goodrham, who we haven’t yet used as a midfielder.
“He’ll be a miss to us, but right now we’ve got a field of players to cope, and we really look forward to welcoming him back.”
