Carlos Alcaraz’s split from tennis player before Emma Raducanu rumours

He’s the crown prince of tennis and after sealing back-to-back Wimbledon titles by beating Novak Djokovic in this year’s final, Carlos Alcaraz’s stock is at an all-time high.

At just 21, he has already added the US Open and French Open to his double success at SW19 and is in the top 10 highest earning men’s single players of all time, having banked over £26 million in prize money in his fledgling career so far.

As with all sporting superstars, it is perhaps unsurprising that Alcaraz’s achievements on the court have led to increased interest in his life off it, with the Spaniard’s personal relationships under the microscope.

In fact, shortly after winning his second Wimbledon title, he was quizzed on the nature of his relationship with fellow tennis star Emma Raducanu, who was in the stands at Centre Court to watch him triumph. But with no suggestion that the pair are involved romantically, the Spaniard couldn’t help but laugh at the far-fetched rumours that they were a couple.

Asked for his thoughts on why the British star came to watch him, he replied: “I don’t know, I don’t know. I think a lot of people came to see the final.I think Novak and I always put on a good game, a show on the court.

“I think it is a beautiful game to watch. And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia [his home town] I would 100 per cent go to the final, even if I wasn’t playing.”

However, Alcaraz teased: “I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to ask her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.”

While he poked fun at the rumours surrounding him and Raducanu, Alcaraz has previously been in a relationship with another female tennis player. The Spaniard reportedly dated Maria Gonzalez Gimenez, who represents Murcia Tennis Club and has taken part in the Spanish Masters and ATP Challenger tournaments.

The timeline of their relationship is unclear, but Maria – who also studies law at the University of Murcia – is thought to have been with Alcaraz for some time before splitting. The Wimbledon champion previously posted a photo of them sharing an intimate moment on his Instagram story, according to Tennis Tonic.

However, in an interview with the Times ahead of this year’s Wimbledon, the Spaniard confirmed he was not currently in a relationship. Quizzed on his relationship status, he said: “No, I am single. I am looking for someone.”

Potentially giving insight into why he split with Maria, he added: “It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are travelling all the time.” And when it was put to him that he would not be short of admirers, he replied: “I hope so”.

Alcaraz has also been previously linked to Spanish singer Ana Mena. The 27-year-old singer, who got her big break on Disney’s musical reality show My Camp Rock 2 at the age of 13, reportedly dated the tennis star for around two months in 2022, according to some Spanish media outlets – although that has not been publicly confirmed by either party.
