The closure of Kiss Bar on Park End Street was announced on Sunday, December 22.
This is due to major development plans in the West End of the city.
It follows the closure of Atik in June, which will be redeveloped as part of the regeneration into a ground floor music venue, plus a bar and cafe with new office space upstairs.
Bangkok House has also been forced out of the area.
Kiss Bar was home to Intrusion, Oxford’s Goth and Industrial Night which was established 25 years ago, and METAAAL!!!, Oxford’s Heavy Metal Club Night.

Yola and her business partner Charlie, who did not wish to disclose their surnames, have ran Kiss Bar for 23 years. She believes the closure will leave a “big dent” in Oxford’s night life.
The last night of opening was Sunday, December 22.
Yola told us: “Atik pulled a lot of people to the area to enjoy Oxfords night life.
“Now they have gone we did see a reduction with the foot fall on Park End Street and now we have had to leave too, I feel truly sorry for Oxford’s night life.
“I’m forever being told how bad Oxford’s night life has become and now with us having to leave, I believe it will leave again a big dent in Oxford’s night life.
“I believe that there is now no longer a real draw to Park End Street.”
In a statement posted on social media by Yola on Sunday, Kiss Bar was described as a “highly successful business”.
It said: “After being told from a neighbouring bar ‘don’t be surprised if you don’t last a year’ when Kiss Bar first started, we find ourselves here 23 years on.
“As the rumours have spread about us having to close since the closing of Atik in June, that, we too, would be going, it is important that you know why we have had to go as I’m afraid that time is now.
“The whole building Kiss Bar is situated in is owned by the same landlords.
“They have decided to take back all of the premises situated within their building, in a view to change the purpose of the building, therefore this obviously means we have to go.
“I’m so sorry to say Kiss Bar has now closed permanently.”
Yola thanked their “amazing” team and expressed “deep gratitude” to their “wonderful” customers.
She added: “We built such a rapport with you on personal level too.
“You helped to create one of the best party destinations in Oxford and we will be forever grateful to you.

“Myself, Charlie and my most fantastic team are sad to be leaving this great adventure behind but what a beautiful adventure it has been.
“Equally I’m not getting any younger. With this in mind, I feel this has come at the right time for me as sad as I feel to be leaving you all and will miss each and every one of you.
“At least we can say we left on an absolute high.”
