Posh Fish on London Road in Headington is located a stone’s throw from the well-known Headington Shark on New High Street.

The 25ft fibreglass shark, lodged in the roof of a house now turned B&B, was commissioned by Bill Heine, an American-born journalist and broadcaster, who came to Oxford in the 1960s.

Mr Heine, who studied at Oxford University and went on to work at BBC Oxford and the Oxford Mail, hired sculptor and friend John Buckley to implement the shark.

The sculpture brings its fair share of tourism to Headington and Posh Fish has got them covered.

Serving fish and chips in keeping with the marine theme, the shop even has its very own statue of a shark located on the top of its roof.

The chippy has now been recognised by the Good Food Awards, winning a 2024/25 Gold Seal after another stellar year in Oxford.

A spokesperson for the Good Food Awards said: “Our Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for excellence within their field.
