‘Finally found their groove’ – QPR vs Oxford United prediction: The72

QPR and Oxford United meet in the Championship on Wednesday night with both sides looking to claim big wins.

QPR come into their clash with Oxford United looking to continue their recent upturn in form ind a bid to push away from the Championship relegation zone.

Marti Cifuentes’ side are unbeaten in four and have taken seven points from the last three games. They produced arguably their best performance of the season at the weekend, defeating Norwich City 3-0 on home turf.

A Rayan Kolli brace helped them on their way to victory, leaving the R’s 20th in the Championship table coming into the midweek fixtures.

As for Oxford United, they make the trip to QPR with their slide down the second-tier table continuing.

The strong start made by Des Buckingham and co feels like a thing of the past as they now sit 19th in the table, one point above the relegation zone with 18 points from as many games. They’ve won just one of their last 13 matches in the league.

The U’s looked to have adjusted well to Championship life but after a good start, there are concerns going into the festive schedule.

Here, a handful of our writers issue their predictions for the game…

James Ray

QPR look to have finally found some form and after a much-needed home win at the weekend, you have to wonder what that will do for their confidence.

“They’re four unbeaten now and on Saturday, they looked like a side that has finally found their groove. If they can put together a bit of a run, they might be able to get some welcome distance between them and the bottom three.

“And, against Oxford United, I’ve got a feeling the hosts will triumph again.

“Oxford’s slide has been worrying and you just wonder whether they’re going to continue in this vein. I certainly don’t see them turning it around with a result here.”

Prediction: QPR 2-0 Oxford United

Harry Mail

QPR have finally started to click and will be in confident mood ahead of this one.

“They are unbeaten in their last four games and have tightened things up at the back.

“The Hoops have risen out of the bottom three and will want to keep their momentum going.

Oxford United are getting sucked into a relegation battle and I can see them getting beat against the R’s. Buckingham’s side could do with bringing in some reinforcements in the January window to bolster their ranks.”

Prediction: QPR 2-1 Oxford United
