Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has said Victor Adeboyejo will be ‘going nowhere’ amid interest from Turkey.
Bolton Wanderers’ striker was the subject of enquiries from Championship pair Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United last month, as per The Bolton News, as well as Goztepe. The English window is now shut but teams in the Turkish Super Lig can still sign players.
Adeboyejo, 26, is under contract at the Toughsheet Community Stadium until June 2026 so the Trotters are under no pressure to cash in on him anytime soon.
Evatt has said, as per The Bolton News: “Victor will be going nowhere, absolutely nowhere.”
He also shared this injury update: “Victor has been suffering with a nasty back injury and a sneeze set it off yesterday (Monday) believe it or not. We have had it scanned and should have the results very soon, everyone remembers the challenge at Charlton, he was okay at the time. But then he had a pretty hefty sneeze – now Victor is a powerful boy and even his sneezes are powerful.”
Keeping Adeboyejo amid attention from Turkey would be a big boost for Bolton Wanderers.
He provides more competition and depth up front and is a handful at League One level.
They signed him back in January 2023 from Burton Albion to bolster their attacking department.
He has since made 63 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with 14 goals, 10 of which came in the last campaign.
Prior to his move to the Trotters, he started his senior career at Leyton Orient after spells in the academies at Arsenal, AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic.
The forward then joined Barnsley in 2017 and spent five years with the Tykes, scoring nine goals in 93 matches.
He was loaned out to Bristol Rovers and Cambridge United during his time in South Yorkshire before Burton Albion came calling.
Adeboyejo fired 13 goals in 34 games for the Brewers to land his Bolton Wanderers transfer.
His main focus will be getting back to full fitness following his back injury.
The end of the window last Friday has eradicated interest from Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United for now and Evatt’s comments suggest he won’t be heading over to Turkey anytime soon.
Bolton Wanderers are back in action after the international break with a home clash against Huddersfield Town.
