The proposal comes from Didcot Town Football Club, to build 25 new apartments, new car parking spaces and sports pitches on the club’s land in Bowmont Water.
South Oxfordshire District Council approved the plans on December 17 with some conditions.

In its supporting document for the application, Didcot Football Club explained that it had sustained financial losses due to high operating costs, and wanted to ensure its sustainability to continue providing recreational and community services.
The club said: “The current plan is the last opportunity to safeguard the future of both DTFC and the community offerings we provide.
“Without the level of additional income the new recreational facilities will provide, the ongoing losses and increased financial pressures we face would mean we would have no choice other than to sell the whole site for redevelopment and relocate out of Didcot or, worse still, cease Didcot Town FC altogether.

“This would be a great loss to the people of Didcot and to the proud heritage of the town.”
The new development will feature the flats built in blocks, provide 32 parking spaces in addition to the 150 already on the site, and provide new pitches for a range of sports.
More than 150 residents commented on the application during the consultation period, voicing their objections or support.
