OXFORD — The Ole Miss women’s basketball team made a run in the middle of the game, but it wasn’t enough.
The No. 18 Rebels (4-2) lost to No. 1 UConn 73-60 on Wednesday night in the Bahamas. It was in the championship game of the 2024 Continental Tire Baha Mar Championship. The Rebels got to the tournament championship game by beating Boston College 92-55 on Monday.
The Huskies (6-0) got out to a 22-point lead late in the first half, but Ole Miss stormed back to make it a game. Between 8:16 and 5:39 in the third quarter, the Rebels scored six consecutive buckets. KK Deans led Ole Miss in scoring with 17 points.
It cut UConn’s lead to three, but the Huskies responded. UConn outscored Ole Miss 21-14 in the fourth quarter.
Kennedy Todd-Williams scored 13 for Ole Miss and Rebels’ forward Starr Jacobs added 11, but it wasn’t enough to cancel out star UConn guard Paige Bueckers. The 6-foot senior guard scored a game-high 29 points.
