Oxford Linked With Al-Hamadi Loan
Wednesday, 19th Jun 2024 13:14
Championship new boys Oxford United are reported to be interested in signing Blues striker Ali Al-Hamadi on loan.
Al-Hamadi joined Town from AFC Wimbledon in January and scored four goals as he helped the Blues win promotion back to the Premier League, making one start and 13 sub appearances.
Town may well look to send the 22-year-old out on loan to gain first team experience in the season ahead and, according to Indonesian website BolaSport, Oxford United, one of whose co-owners, Erick Thohir, is Indonesian, are keen.
Oxford, who have former Blues Greg Leigh and Kyle Edwards in their squad, are back in the Championship having won promotion via the play-offs.
Al-Hamadi is known to Indonesian football followers having scored for Iraq in a 5-1 thrashing of Town defender Elkan Baggott’s international side in November last year.

That would be a good loan move for him. |

Would be a good loan for him I think but I would also like it if he stayed for the first half of the season and then go out on loan |

That would be an excellent move on all sides. |

I think Oxford will have a tough time next season, so it could be a long season for him with few goals. But that experience will be invaluable and he’d had a great opportunity to stake a claim for regular starts at Championship level. Would make him a better player, I think |

I agree with those above; this would be a great move for him & us. We need him to be playing regular Championship football this season & with Oxford he’s likely to get plenty of minutes against good sides with decent defenders. |

Rather see him develop with Ipswich getting some chances in the Premier League. |

He won’t develop with Ipswich town if he’s not getting game time. Elkan Baggott decided not to go out on loan and his game went backwards so much so he lost his regular spot in the Indonesian team. You need to play to get better it’s not rocket science. |

Torn if true. Ali is a proper wild card and can see him replicating the havoc he causes coming on as a sub in the Prem, just as he did last season. However, not realistically going to start, and that is without knowing if/who we are signing. No rush, let’s see how the window plays out….we might even NEED him ! |

If he goes we need a recall clause for January. |

Linkboy13 Nothing to do with rockets or science. He is an asset in this squad. At this moment our current front line striker is George Hirst. The continued pursuit of Fotis Ioannidis seems legitimate. |

I agree with linkboy on this one but I genuinely thought the club bought hamadi because he was something special! |

Church man’s. Hes a young player who was bought mainly as one forthe future, but could do a job for us if required. He didxwell enough but was hampered by an injury. Who knows if he’d be goodxenough for the pl as yet. |

We will have a lot of players this season trying to test and prove themselves in the Premier League. We need to focus and a bit ruthless. Farming out peripheral players on loan ie everyone who Kieran is not confident about, makes perfect sense. Bring them back when the rest of the team are more established and we have the capacity to develop them. |

McKenna knows what’s best for Al-hamadi and he wouldn’t loan him out if he wasn’t confident about getting other players in. If you are a player who loves the game you would rather be playing than sitting on the bench although i would rather see him go to a more established championship club as i can see Oxford struggling in the championship. Baggott decided not to go out on loan and it backfired on him. Any player who would rather sit on the bench has got an attitude problem and lack of appetite for the game. |

I’m with the wait and see people on this, who we do or don’t sign could be crucial to what happens to Ali. Personally I love his raw talent and can see a role for him from the bench at Town, whilst gaining game knowledge from being directly under McKenna. What’s he gonna learn at Oxford, apart from game time. I believe we have signed someone special with Ali and would love to see him get a chance, but as I say all will hinge on signings or lack of them!! |
