A community hub has opened at a park following a major refurbishment project.

The tennis pavilion at Headington’s Bury Knowle Park has been revamped part of a broader £600,000 investment in the site.

Improvements include a café, mini-golf and shuffleboard facilities and a multi-use games area.

Chewe Munkonge, cabinet member for A Healthy Oxford, called the facilities “brilliant” and “a significant investment in the wellbeing of our community”.

“This new, inviting space builds on the council’s work to encourage physical activity and social interaction, helping to foster a healthier, more connected Oxford,” he said.

Oxford Direct Services (ODS), which works on behalf of Oxford City Council, and community interest company Courtside, said it had been “transformed”.

Associate director of construction Mitchell Carter said: “We are thrilled to see the transformation of Bury Knowle Pavilion into a welcoming and vibrant community hub.

“This project showcases our commitment to enhancing community facilities while preserving the historical and environmental integrity of our beloved sites.”
