Oxford Summertown: Arrests after teenage cyclist seriously injured in crash

The man remains in custody, while the boy has been released without charge.

The collision happened between the junctions of Beechcroft Road and Oakthorpe Road.

The man was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently using a registration, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Det Sgt Tony Jenkins of the serious collision investigation unit said: “This collision has occurred on a busy stretch of the Banbury Road in the morning rush-hour and resulted in the road being closed for much of the day on Monday. It has now re-opened.

“Sadly, a boy has sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.”

He appealed to anybody who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
