There will be a range of offers available to electric vehicle (EV) owners in Oxford this World EV Day.
Taking place on Monday, September 9, World EV Day celebrates the advances in e-mobility and promotes the transition to electrified transport.
For this year’s event, drivers in Oxford will have access to multiple deals including free charging at council-owned charging points and special promotional codes for new car club members.
Councillor Anna Railton, deputy leader and cabinet member for zero carbon Oxford, said: “It’s great news that several electric vehicle charging point operators and companies are once again able to offer deals for World EV Day this year.
“If you are a regular electric vehicle driver, you can take advantage of these deals at one of your local charging points.
“If you’d like to explore car clubs, why not sign up for Co Wheels Car Club and try driving an electric car for the first time?”
RAW Charging, which operates on-street charging bollards across Oxford, will be offering free charging at any of its locations in the city.
These locations include Stockmore Street, Lake Street, Frenchay Road, Sandfield Road, Juxon Street, Stone Street, Wytham Street, Bedford Street, Vicarage Close, West Street and Southfield Road.
Similarly, Fastned and Wenea will provide free charging at their Redbridge Park and Ride charging points, though parking charges will still apply.
Wenea will also offer free charging at its points at Seacourt Park and Ride.
Blink Charging, which provides EV charging at the Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre and Headington Car Park, will also be commemorating World EV Day with a donation to charities fighting lung disease.
The offer will also apply to on-street chargers at Keble Road, Manzil Way, Old Greyfriars Street.
Co Wheels Car Club, which operates an electric car club across the city, will offer new users a special promotional code.
The code, WORLDEVDAY2024, will grant new members from Oxford who sign up before World EV Day £15 free driving credit, no joining fee, and no monthly fee for as long as their membership lasts.
However, this offer is not valid for members under the age of 25.
To further promote the use of electric vehicles, Oxfordshire County Council, Oxford City Council, and Cherwell, South Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse, and West Oxfordshire district councils, as well as Oxford Local Enterprise Partnership have collaborated to develop the Climate Action Oxfordshire website.
This site has information about choosing an electric vehicle as well as information about other ways Oxfordshire residents can help to reduce their carbon footprint.
