Oxford United U18s looking to bounce back from Plymouth thrashing

The 5-1 loss on Saturday, November 9, ended United’s five game unbeaten run, dropping them to eighth in the league with 13 points from eight matches.

Argyle went into the break with a four goal advantage following strikes from Harry Shield and Seb Campbell, and a double from Tegan Finn.

Joel Sullivan made it five for Plymouth before Harley Gardner secured a late consolation for Oxford.

The Yellows broke through Argyle’s defence after sloppy play allowed the ball to be turned over in midfield, and Gardner kept his cool to fire past Dan Holman with just seconds left on the clock.

The result condemned United to their first defeat since they lost 3-1 against Swindon Town U18s on September 14.

Despite the setback, the Yellows will go into the game against Forest Green with confidence, having won 4-1 when the two sides met less than a fortnight ago.

Forest Green, meanwhile, will be eager to turn their poor form around, having secured just one win in their last seven matches, conceding 11 goals in their last three.

Kick off is at 2pm at the Oxford United Training Ground in Horspath Road and admission is free.
