A 68th minute goal from Mubarak Abolade was enough to see the Yellows bounce back from their 5-1 defeat against Plymouth and secure all three points.

The loss on Saturday, November 9, had ended United’s five game unbeaten run, dropping them to eighth in the table with 13 points from eight matches.

U’s manager Pablo Haysham responded by making two changes to his side, with Kasway Burton starting in attack.

After a scrappy first half which involved little goal mouth action, his team started the second 45 on the front foot.

Some good link-up play between Burton and Abolade created a couple of chances for Oxford after the break, but both attempts drifted just wide, and Josh Holton also tested the Forest Green goalkeeper with a decent effort.

With a quarter of the game left, it was Burton and Abolade who once again linked up to put Oxford ahead, with Burton beating his man down the left before finding Abolade, who had a tap in.

The visitors looked to pile on the pressure in the last 20 minutes as they tried to find an equaliser, but a resilient United defence held out to keep a clean sheet.

The win takes Oxford to fourth in the table, only four points behind league leaders AFC Wimbledon.
