Wild Oxfordshire’s documentary, ‘Beneath The Surface’, was given an Award of Merit by The Best Shorts Film Competition.

The film, directed by Nicola Schafer, highlights the work of the Evenlode Catchment Partnership in improving water quality in the Evenlode.

It tells the stories of farmers, landowners, community groups, and environmental organisations, showcasing the innovative action being taken and the work still needed to save the river.

Ms Schafer said: “I am thrilled that ‘Beneath The Surface’ has been recognised at this international film festival, and that the important message of the film is getting noticed.”

The Best Shorts Competition recognises film, television, videography, and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in their craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.

The winners are chosen by a judging panel made up of professional from the film and television industry.

They were “pleased with the exceptional high quality of entries,” Rick Prickett, chair of The Best Shorts Competition, said.

Mr Prickett added: “Entries are received from around the world from powerhouse companies to remarkable new talent.

“The Best Shorts Competition helps set the standard for craft and creativity.

“The goal of Best Shorts is to help winners achieve the recognition they deserve.”
