PREVIEW: Oxford United travel to Pompey

Oxford United travel to league leaders Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday in Sky Bet League One (3pm)

With 11 league games to play, the U’s will look to get back on track with their play-off push following last weekend’s home defeat to Leyton Orient.

We wish the 1,380 travelling Oxford United supporters a safe journey to the South Coast on Saturday afternoon. Come on you Yellows!

TEAM NEWS

Captain Elliott Moore and right back Fin Stevens are both in contention ahead of the trip to the league leaders.

Stevens wasn’t risked against Leyton Orient as a precaution having only trained once before the fixture but has trained fully since then and will be available while Moore has also had a full week of training.

The U’s have plenty of options going forward as Josh Murphy has been in strong form since returning from injury, and Mark Harris and Will Goodwin are both eager to lead the line.

See a full interview with Murphy, plus a longer version of Des Buckingham’s interview below, all in iFollow.

THE OPPOSITION

The last three games between the sides have ended with the points being shared, and United have only lost twice to the Blues in the last 12 meetings.

The two teams played in a 2-2 draw just over a month ago under the lights in OX4, with James Henry scoring his 50th league goal for the U’s at the death to level the game.

Pompey sit top of the table with a seven-point lead and are unbeaten in eight games in Sky Bet League One. They come into the game off the back of a 0-0 draw with strugglers Charlton a week ago.
