The footbridge linked the station entrance with the pavement on the opposite side of the road.
Work took place at the weekend to remove the bridge which has been in place for many years as part of a £161m scheme to upgrade the city’s rail station.
It is not yet known when it will be replaced.

The removal was due to take place on the weekend of December 7 and December 8 but the work was postponed due to Storm Darragh.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said earlier the footbridge was being removed as work begins to prepare the area for replacing the rail bridge.
Botley Road has been closed at the rail bridge since April last year to allow Network Rail contractors to work on major improvements for Oxford station, including building a new platform, replacing the rail bridge, and creating a new western entrance.

In July, the rail infrastructure company said the scheme was so badly delayed that Botley Road would not be able to open in October, as originally scheduled.
Rail minister Lord Hendy has apologised for the disruption caused to residents and traders and is due to visit the city next month when he is expected to provide an update on when work is scheduled to finish, and when the Botley Road can reopen.
Traders and residents are planning a protest in Frideswide Square to coincide with the visit.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Removal of the Botley Road footbridge was completed successfully at the weekend, following a postponement of one week because of the very high winds during Storm Darragh.
“A new footbridge will be installed when the rest of the work on the project has been completed – a new ramp, additional lighting, and CCTV has been installed as part of a new walking route from Becket Street car park to the station.”
