Team News, Form and Prediction as Oxford United Travel to Blackburn

Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Coventry when the U’s travel to Blackburn.

Des Buckingham’s side conceded a 96th-minute goal in a 3-2 defeat at the Ricoh Arena. However, the U’s won their first two games against Norwich in the league and Peterborough in the Carabao Cup.

Rovers started the season with a 4-2 victory over Derby before a comfortable 6-1 away win over Stockport in the cup. John Eustace’s side then drew 2-2 on the road at Norwich last time out.

Dane Scarlett made his U’s debut late on at Coventry and Buckingham has two more faces in his squad following the arrivals of Marselino Ferdinan and Hidde ter Avest.

Blackburn have made some new additions after narrowly avoiding the drop last season but the Championship’s top scorer in Sammie Szmodics has left to join Ipswich.

Oxford are without a win in the last six meetings between the two sides, losing both home and away when they met in League One during the 2017/18 season. However, their most recent victory did come at Ewood Park.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Joe Bennett, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Ruben Rodrigues, Matt Phillips, Tyler Goodrham, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Blackburn Rovers 2-2 Oxford United
