In fact, it’s worse than that as the U’s have now recorded just one win in their last 15 league games. As a result, Des Buckingham was sacked on Sunday – a decision which, in spite of results, has angered a large proportion of the Oxford fanbase

As for Leeds, they sit second in the Championship, just three points behind league leaders, Sheffield United.

The Whites needed a stoppage-time equaliser at Preston last time out but have just one defeat from their last seven games.

Leeds also boast the joint-best home form in the Championship with nine wins and one draw from their 11 fixtures at Elland Road. The U’s are still without a win on their travels, having picked up solitary points at Luton and Portsmouth respectively.

The hosts are also the highest-scoring side in the division with 37 goals from 21 games. Only three teams in the second tier have conceded more goals than the U’s.

Oxford are still without Siriki Dembele, Louie Sibley and Joe Bennett but have no new injury concerns for the trip to Elland Road.

Leeds are without Ilia Gruev and Junior Firpo for this fixture, but Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram made a return against Preston.

It’s been 12 years since these sides last met with Leeds winning 3-0 at Elland Road it the League Cup. The previous two meetings also came in Yorkshire with Leeds winning 4-0 in the FA Cup four years after the U’s won 3-2 on their travels in the same competition. The last league meeting came in the 1989/90 season when Leeds did the double over Oxford.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Peter Kioso, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Ruben Rodrigues, Tyler Goodrham, Owen Dale, Dane Scarlett.

Prediction: Leeds United 2-0 Oxford United
