Team News, Form and Prediction as Oxford United Welcome West Brom

Oxford United return to league action after the international break with a home match against West Brom.

The U’s remain unbeaten at home following their goalless draw against Burnley before picking up their first points on the road at Luton and Portsmouth respectively.

Team News, Form and Prediction

The Baggies have had a good start to the seasons with five wins from their opening nine league games. As a result, Carlos Corberán’s side sit fourth in the table. However, they are without a win in their last three, losing at Sheffield Wednesday before a home defeat against Middlesbrough and goalless draw against Millwall.

Oxford will be hoping defenders Ben Nelson and Elliott Moore will be back from injury, with wingers Przemyslaw Placheta and former Baggies man Matt Phillips also close to a return.

Josh Maja is the real dangerman for the visitors, with the striker netting seven goals already. Former U’s midfielder Alex Mowatt has added three. However, the Baggies have only netted 12 league goals this season, which is one fewer than the U’s.

As previously mentioned, Oxford remain unbeaten at home but West Brom have the best away record in the division with three wins and one defeat from their four fixtures.

The last time these two sides met was a Carabao Cup tie in 2014 when Danny Hylton netted a late equaliser at the Hawthorns. However, the Baggies won on penalties. The previous meeting came in 1999 which West Brom also won but the U’s had four successive victories and were unbeaten in six prior to that.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Peter Kioso, Josh McEachran, Idris El Mizouni, Ruben Rodrigues, Siriki Dembele, Tyler Goodrham, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 West Bromwich Albion
