Fast Retailing has revealed the date of its newest Central London store with the 1,300 sq m flagship set to open on 18 April. It covers two floors with entrances on Charing Cross Road and Oxford Street next to Tottenham Court Road station.
The location will carry LifeWear for women, men, kids and babies plus its collaboration with JW Anderson and its Uniqlo: C line that it creates with Clare Waight Keller.
Dubbed Uniqlo One, it’s the retailer’s 18th store in the UK, and while many big names have retreated from the idea of having multiple branches on London’s premier shopping street, Uniqlo certainly hasn’t. In fact, this will be its third Oxford Street branch.
we’re told it will “focus on convenience” with multiple digital screens showcasing trending items and where to find them directly within the two floors. The layout has also “been considered and each zone will be increased to make it easier for customers to shop and find what they are looking for”.
There will also be “innovative digital technology” to support customers with collecting the orders they’ve placed through the app or website.
And the branch will offer a repair service too, which will be for customers who have Uniqlo items that require mending or alteration. So trained staff will be able to hem trousers, sew buttons, mend holes and more.
Another feature will be a water refilling point for customers to use while shopping.
On the creative side, Uniqlo is linking up with London graphic designer and illustrator Jada Bruney whose work “combines impactful art into meaningful unique pieces”. She’ll be creating “bold and lively designs, which will be displayed throughout the store and will be visible to the general public through the windows”.
As mentioned, this is the 18th UK store for the brand and that number will rise to 19 this spring as a new store is also opening on Edinburgh’s Princess Street.
