Top food hygiene ratings given to dozens of Oxford businesses

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 19 of Oxford’s food venues, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Eighteen businesses were awarded the top score of five stars, which means hygiene standards are “very good”.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme helps consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food by giving them clear information about a business’s hygiene standards.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

Silvie on Iffley Road, Cosmo Oxford on Magdalen Street, Old Delhi/Mughal Biryani on Park End Street, Cafe Baba on Cowley Road and Kazbar on Cowley Road were among the eateries awarded the top rating.

Also among the top ratings were Kopitiam on Banbury Road, Heavenly Desserts on London Road, Hollywood Bowl Oxford at Bowlplex on Ozone Leisure Park, and Rio’s Piri Piri on London Road.

Three Thousand Restaurant on St Michael’s Street and Sartorelli’s at the Covered Market on Market Street also impressed inspectors leading to the top rating.

SIZZLED on Cornmarket Street received four stars following an inspection in April.

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

Viking Club on Old High Street, The Coconut Tree on St Clement’S Street and The White Hart on Godstow Road were all awarded five stars following recent inspections. 

Frewen Club on St Aldate’s also impressed inspectors and achieved the highest score.

Takeaways

Ellrose Asian Snacks Ltd, Delight Kebab House on Between Towns Road, and Il Principe on Cowley Road were all awarded five stars.
