Christopher Rascoe was studying economics

A 24-year-old postgrad student at the University of Oxford was found dead in his home.

Christopher Rascoe started studying an MPhil in Economics at Christ Church, at Oxford. He died on 25th November at his home on St Aldate’s – a street in the city centre, next to the main Christ Church buildings.

Christopher was originally from Atlanta, and went to Westminster Schools there. He did his undergrad degree in economics at Northwestern University.

Christopher specialised in macroeconomic theory and had completed several internships in finance and estate management. In his spare time, he tutored maths and economics students. He had hoped to do a PhD at Oxford and become an academic.

This follows the news that a “much-valued” neuroscience postgrad student at St John’s College, Oxford called Cal Shearer was found dead at their home on 30th October. Alexander Rogers, a third year materials science student at the University of Oxford, died by suicide earlier this year.

The full inquest into Christopher’s death will take place on 1st April 2025.
