OXFORD, Iowa — UPDATE – Four people were injured in a crash that shutdown westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) near Oxford.
Authorities were called to the scene on Friday morning near the 230 mile marker. They arrived there at 8 a.m. and found an RV rolled over inside of the median.
Police said the driver of the RV ran off of the highway before overcorrecting and crashing into the bridge guardrail. The RV then crossed back onto I-80 and hit another guard rail before rolling over into the median.
One person was airlifted and three others were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Authorities said no one was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Right now, it’s unclear why the driver ran off of the highway. The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time.
