Winger sees loan cut short with return to Crystal Palace

The 21-year-old winger returns to Crystal Palace, having made just six appearances for the U’s after joining on loan at the beginning of August.

He made two appearances in the Carabao Cup, including his only start which came in the second round defeat at Coventry City, while all four of his Sky Bet Championship matches came off the bench.

In total, Ebiowei played 64 minutes of Championship football for United and last featured in the 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City on November 2.

He hasn’t been involved in a U’s matchday squad for the last nine games, and his return to Palace therefore comes as little surprise.

Ebiowei had been a long-term target for United though, with the club interested in signing him on loan during Karl Robinson’s final summer as head coach in 2022.

The U’s are understood to have been keen on adding Palace duo Ebiowei and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but neither move materialised.
